Climbing in Paklenica NP

Paklenica National Park is one of the best-known climbing destinations in Europe. The vertical cliffs of Velika Paklenica canyon, over 400 m high, are located close to the entrance of the Park and are only 2 km from the coast. Over 360 fully-equipped and improved routes of various difficulty levels and lengths grace Paklenica’s climbing sites, so all climbers can find a route to their liking. The close proximity of sea gives this climbing site a special charm, making the Paklenica Riviera an ideal place to combine climbing with a beach holiday. That and the very special peaceful atmosphere of Paklenica make it a favourite destination for climbers with families.

The main climbing season in Paklenica begins in the spring and goes on until late autumn. In the Paklenica Sport House all the apartments are provided with air conditioners and the apartments on the ground floor even with central heating, so the House can offer you accommodation in colder days.

Recreational rock climbing in Paklenica began in 1938 when Dragutin Brahm tried to climb Anića Kuk. Today you’ll find a wide choice of bolted routes on good quality limestone rock. The routes vary from single-pitch sports and recreational routes to massive wall rock climbing routes up to 350m long, catering to all levels of rock climbers, from novice to expert.
